Blood supplies are hitting a struggle nationally with less than four days of supply available.
The supply is usually at seven days’ worth, but this has decreased significantly in recent weeks.
This has come following the Easter holidays and bank holiday weekends, where less people are available to give blood and demand for the service can also increase.
The Irish Blood Transfusion Service are taking donations this week from today until Thursday at the Castlecourt Hotel in Westport.
Paul McKinney is Director of donor services and logistics at the Irish Blood Transfusion Service.
